| Welcome to the RhodesRock09 comments page.
Messages & photos posted are in no particular order except the 1st which is from John Campbell of Are You Experienced.
For us this sums up our own feelings so well that we don't feel the need to add any further comments of our own except to say a big personal thank you all the bands, all the British & Greek sound & lighting crews, all the staff that worked miracles for us in Lindos, our Greek partners &, of course, the biggest thank you to all you RhodesRockers who supported us so well. For us it almost feels like a club in which we have made so many new friends. Although we can't possibly remember all the names & faces we thank you all personally & hope very much to see you all again next year in Lindos. If you want to add your comments to this page please email to info@lindosfloydfest or info@classicrocktours.com & we will post them for you. |
| Rhodes Rock 09 turned out to be the truly unique event that it promised to be.
Droves of classic rock fans descended upon the tiny village of Lindos to meet up and make new friends and memories. It goes without saying that this event would not have been possible without the nine months of hard work that organizers Eddie & Elaine put in. (those that know Eddie know that if he didn't sleep so much it could have been sorted in two months!) Alex & George's contribution on the Greek side of things should be noted, as well as Pete for organizing the logistical nightmare of catering for seven bands! I have received nothing but great comments on how much everyone enjoyed all of the bands, the extra events at The Athena and Beach Barbeque, and the general ligging until dawn. We always get a buzz out of getting up on stage and performing Jimi's songs in our own inimitable way, and although I had some problems with my poor old back for most of the 10 days we were out there, to play to the RhodesRockers made it all worthwhile. (Thanks for all of the get well messages that you have sent. It's appreciated) It was a pleasure to work rest and play with all of the bands involved, our mates Limehouse Lizzy..kickass show as always. Letz Zep, faultless renditions of Zep classics, Free Spirit, vocalist Gary showing that there's more to singing than just mouthing the words. A Foreigners Journey, I'm the first to admit to not being a huge fan of either Journey or Foreigner, but hats off to this band. They obviously have put in a tremendous amount of hard work in very little time to become a tribute band to watch out for. Matt on vocals has the whole package, and I'm sure is destined for great things.
The ZZTops..what can I say, met them first at a guitar show six months ago and hit it off with them straight away.
These guys have the attitude, ability and above all, the sense of fun that makes them a pleasure to watch and hang with. Miss em at your peril when they come to your neck of the woods. So thanks guys. If you were there, spread the word. Hope to see you next year. John Campbell |

I will never forget how great Rhodes Rock '09 was. The bands, the atmosphere, |

Hi Elaine and Eddie We felt that the venue for the beach party was lovely and the proprieter was a really nice guy, great day altogether, the food was fantastic! We also enjoyed the welcome party, a great opportunity to get into the swing of things. The hotel we chose was really nice. Absolutely cant wait to return to the event next year and I'm sure many of our friends will be itching to go after seeing our holiday snaps! Lindos is an amazing place. I have to say it has changed since I was there 30yrs ago! Many thanks again, please let us know as soon as we can book with you again as we don't want to miss out. We are definately going for 2 weeks next year. Kind regards to you both |
|
Dear Elaine & Eddie, |
|
Hi Elaine please could you let me know the dates for rhodes rock 2010 as we have to book our holidays now for next year we had such a fantastic time and cant wait for 2010 thanks janice hardaker. |

Hi Elaine &
Eddie, |
|
Hi everyone, |
|
"Dear Elaine and Eddie, my hubby and I would just love to say "THANK YOU"
for the best holiday ever. We had such a fantastic time in Rhodes, it was great to be so close up with the bands who we love and see as much as we can. everyone was really friendly and we have made some friends for life. |
|
Hi Eddie and Elaine |
|
Hello Eddie and Elaine Looking forward to seeing all the bands perform in the UK. We see Are You Experienced so often that John, Kevin and Mark accuse us of being groupies. They always put on a good performance just like all the other bands. Seeing Letz Zep once again in September for our regular fix of Zeppelin. Also seeing Limehouse Lizzy in September who are on with Livewire a fantastic AC/DC band. Hope to see The ZZ Tops, Free Spirit and A Foreigners Journey when they next play in our area. Not forgetting Think Floyd who started it all off with their Floyd Fests in Lindos, normally see them at least twice a year somewhere in the UK. You can't beat a good night of live rock music played by expert musicians.
We've already booked our tickets for the reunion gig at the Wulfrun Hall in February and are looking forward to seeing again the many friends we made in Rhodes. |
|
Hi Eddie & Elaine, Thanks for the update, we can't wait till next year and just about recovered from 09. We loved every minute of RR 09 and would consider 2 weeks next year all depending on dates etc so we look forward to hearing the plans. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Lindos Horizon as it was fabulous so we would love to stay there again. We all thought everything was well planned and loved all the venues and the only negative thing we can think of is the food at the St Pauls gigs was a bit ropey e.g. the bread for the rolls was very stale and meat wasn't cooked or hot, but other than that everywhere else the food was excellent! I'm attaching some pics and i have named them so i hope when you receive them you can work out who's who. So thanks again for a fantastic time and we will see you at the Wulfrun reunion in Feb. Cheers, Paul and Gabby Mottershead and Steve Carroll.. |
|
''Thanks to Eddie & Elaine for giving us the opportunity to play at Rhodes Rock 09!!! You guy's looked after us so well, it was truly an amazing experience!! |
|
Hi Eddie and Elaine,
Thanks again for your email and we're so glad to see that RR2010 is going ahead. We'll be in Wolverhampton, definitely. And finally, please find some pics attached. Glyn and Simone at BBQ, Simone with Jonessi from the ZeeZees and Simone with all the ZeeZees, becoming the fourth band member. |
|
hi elaine and eddie thanks a lot for a great week met some great friends who are intouch already |

Hi Eddie and Elaine |

Hi Eddie & Elaine, |
|
Hi Elaine, good to hear from you. As a solo female very much into classic rock, I found this to be the ideal holiday. I met some lovely people, some also solo as well as couples and was rarely without company, especially during the evening. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, including all the bands. So anyone who, if like me, are solo, into classic rock and want a great holiday, but have some reservations of travelling alone,as I did initially, this is the holiday to book. All the bands put on awesome performances despite the heat and the venues were excellent and well planned. My favourite evenings were the welcome party and Think Floyd at the amphitheatre area which was really special. Socrates put on some lovely food for the welcome party BBQ and it was a great personal setting for the bands to play Great music, great weather, great people - Can't wait for next year. See you there. Eve (Coventry). |
|
Hi Elaine/Eddie
Well I can't believe how - but you managed to top RhodesRock08. What a totally fab event RhodesRock09 was:
great people (bands and RhodesRockers), great place, great gigs, great extra events... As you know I love Think Floyd and it was great to see Limehouse Lizzy, Letz Zep and Are you Experienced again. Total respect to John for playing despite his health problems! Really impressed by the new bands too - especially A Foreigners Journey. Had a quick chat to Paul at the BBQ and couldn't believe my ears when he said that they had only been together for 5 months! So - when is RhodesRock10? 'Cos I'll be there...
Thanks again for all your hard work, energy and enthusiasm |
|
Hi Eddie/Elaine The rockfest just keeps getting better and better and better, many thanks to both of you. It was a master stroke to give Think Floyd their own gig, and an excellent setting too which lent itself perfectly to Floyd music. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole week and will definitely be up for next year. The other bands were really good, together with the welcome party and I really enjoyed the beach BBQ and boat trip, please make sure you keep that in for next year. Once again many thanks for your continued hard work and effort. The RhodesRock event has now become a 'pilgrimage' and will be the first thing to go on my 2010 calendar.
Rocking Regards |
| Thank you both for looking after Pauline and myself in Lindos we had a fantastic time I am keeping my fingers crossed that you will be having a RhodesRock next year as we loved every minute of it, give yourselves a massif pat on the back for organizing such a great event, hopefully next year Pauline will not be on crutches. Please keep in touch many thanks Pauline & Steve |
| Thank you for a fabulous week, even better than 07. The bands were awesome, on and off stage and the organisation faultless. Our favourite event was the beach party at the taverna, but the welcome party was special too. I hope you are having a well deserved rest, Here are just a few pics, I've posted the rest on facebook ( Kingsley Elliff ). See you again another year Kingsley and Jill |

Hi Eddie and Elaine, |
| Hiya I went to the RhodesRock bash last
week, it was absolutely brilliant will definately be going again. I tried to get a t shirt on the last night but they had all gone, serves me right for not getting one at the first gigs. Have you still got any to sell over here, please let me know if you have. Cheers Terry |
| Just a line to congratulate you on another well organised RhodesRock. The last night at the amphitheatre was magical, brilliant, exceptional and any other superlatives you can think of. Keep on going 'cos what you achieve is absolutely brilliant! I think it is well known that Letz Zep Limehouse Lizzy and Are You Experienced are the perfect bands to compliment Think Floyd. Richard |
| Hope you have begun to recover from organising yet another fantastic event. Thank you both. Can't wait to see the photos etc on web page. You both take care and try taking it easy for a few months at least. Lynn |
| Hi Elaine an Eddie, it was lovely to meet you both over in Lindos.
Thank you very much, I had great week at RhodesRock09 and am looking forward to booking through you for 2010, and staying at the Horizon again, maybe for a little bit longer, perhaps 10 or 14 nights this time, building it into a full holiday. Everything from the bands to the accommodation, the weather to the people I met and locals couldn't have been better. Eve |
| Have to say we all had a fabulous week in Lindos. Couldn't fault it at all, apart from being a little too hot if i'm honest! Accommodation etc couldn't be better. Think we will be joining you again next year with a few more people. Limehouse Lizzy were the reason we came and we weren't disappointed. Disappointed the only time we actually saw you was on the stage at Think Floyd (we arrived early at the welcome party and didn't know you were on the door later) would have liked to have thanked you personally. But will see you in Feb at the RhodesRock Reunion so will do so then. Hope you have a well deserved rest now or will you be starting on next year
already? |
| Hi Elaine and Eddie.. Possibly the first heartfelt Thankyou...?? (as I had to come home today..as you know)... Just a few words to say that I had the most wonderful time, met up with most fabulous people AGAIN and thoroughly enjoyed my stay .... it is a promise right now that i will be there till the end next year... even if I have to starve ...lol... I am saving from right now.. hopefully staying at the Athena as I did previously as even though Pefkos was lovely... it was a little bit of a trek.. but nonetheless a lovely experience seeing the place. I did manage to say hello briefly to you at the gate on the Friday night and had the pleasure of meeting Justin a few times.. Please pass on a big hello to him and say that I did enjoy talking to him! (we had a chat backstage before having to rush off at the last minute to get our transfer to the airport.. That is if he remembers.. lol .. must have spoken to millions of people!! (Sadly we were unable to see John finish his set (what a true professional!! amazed he was able to perform!).. and missed the Finale... (double gutted) My friend Sandy is overwhelmed with the friendliness and overall feeling of the event and is keen to come along next year, as is my teenage daughter and son! Only been home for a few hours but thinking of you all still over there.. I have also posted photos on myspace and facebook... the printable ones of course.. just a great BIG thank you again.. Jan & Sandy |
| Hiya - Thanks for organising a really great time in Lindos. I hope I will be able to go back next year.
There was no need to be apprehensive about going on my own because everyone was so friendly and the wristbands helped if I was lost on the way to a concert!! Enjoyed all the bands and the atmosphere - a fantastic holiday. Irene

| Hello, Elaine and Eddie I hope that, by now, you have been able to catch your breath and to recover a tad from all your hard work. I just wanted to say a big thank you from me (and from Steve) for all your efforts to make the Rhodes Rock week "rock" for us. We had a superb time, and I am already wanting to go back and do it all again next week!!!!! I am wondering if we should be doing this twice a year???!!!! Anyway, it was great fun, and I do hope that you can be persuaded to organise another one next year, please. Also, I do hope that you will be booking Garry Barrett again for next year. He and his band were so good - Garry is such a great singer, and a lovely, sweet guy. Thanks so very much, once again, and take good care of yourselves. with much love Diana |
| Greetings from Moscow.
Elaine - really sorry that we did not meet in Lindos but I seem to have got caught up in alcohol and music for most of the time :) I think you did meet Rob and David. Anyway just a quick message to say thanks for a really well organized and great week. We shall post some pix and a proper letter of appreciation for your web site when we get our acts together ! Roll on 2010 ! Best regards |

| Hi guys, just a quick thank you for putting on another great event. I brought some friends along for the first time this year and they loved it. We are already planning for next year. Will there be a 10 day option ??
|
| I was sent packing to Lindos, courtesy of family and friends, to go on a journey to watch and listen to tribute bands from my era.. This would include talking 24/7 about music, to people who would understand all that was great about rock n blues.. Going solo i was obviously apprehensive and felt a little sheppish to say the least, i was soon put to rest on arrival.. I met a lovely couple, Jane and Gez from Stafford, who put me at ease with there ability to talk on my music wavelength.. They were joined by another party from Stafford, Ray, Chris and the girls, who also invited me into the group.. So intros sorted the first night was a blast, up in the hills we were treated to four impromptu sets from some of the bands featured.. It was a garden party rock out and was a great start to get things underway..
Friday and Saturday took us across to the bay to a concert sight with an amazing setting.. Three bands per night did their thing with a backdrop to die for and all helped along with an enthusiastic crowd of all ages.. Limehouse Lizzy being my favourite excelled as did all the bands, excellent musicmanship, take a bow all of you.. Sunday was rest day followed by Mondays secret beach party.. Again another great setting and once again more sets from the bands to keep the music fix going.. I must add that our DJ kept the air filled with classics and rareraties throughout, weldone to you too.. To cap it all Think Floyd played a poignant set for the passing of Richard Wright, played in earshot of all of Lindos, a perfect ending to a great week.. The sight of all the bands on the stage pre concert was a great sight to see, all of you well done.. And to all the band members who could understand my scouse drunken thank yous, i appreciated your time.. But all of this would not have been possible was it not for Eddie and Elaines input, a big thank you from me and as i told you, it was my greatest birthday treat ever.. Socrates and the people of Lindos, thank you for a very warm welcome and allowing us to pump up the volume to the music we love.. To those that read this as reference to go to 2010, dont think twice you wont regret it.. Keep it live for the spirit of the fallen idols.. Scouse Colin.... |
| I would like to thank you for obtaining us the tickets for the concerts in Rhodes 2009. I would just like to say we had an absolutely fabulous time and are already looking forward to next year. If possible could you please let me know the dates for the concerts in 2010 in order to book our holiday early. |
| Hi i know its a bit early but can you tell me if you are doing a Rhodes Rock 2010. We tried to book for last year but you were fully booked. If so could you please send me some info. Thanks |
